    failuresbydesign: scumlungs: Genie is the pseudonym for a feral child who spent nearly all of the first thirteen years of her life locked inside a bedroom strapped to a potty chair. She was a victim of one of the most severe cases of social isolation in American history. Genie was discovered by Los Angeles authorities on November 4, 1970. Genie spent the next 12 years of her life locked in her bedroom.     white-coat: Epidural Hematoma - This occurs in 1-2% of all head injuries. Simply put, someone bangs their head hard enough to create a bleed between the skull and the dura matter encasing the brain. Typically, the artery that gets ruptured is the middle meningeal artery and the location of the impact is the ‘temple’ region of the skull. Usually, the patient will undergo the head trauma and will have a lucid interval, meaning they feel just fine. Then all of a sudden then exhibit neuro deterioration from the blood building up, putting pressure on the brain compressing it and causing it to herniate. If they catch it in time, they can drill holes through the skull to relieve the pressure.
